The agreement, signed in Abuja, is part of the government’s push to strengthen the creative economy and promote the nation’s cultural identity on the global stage.

Speaking at the signing, Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa said the collaboration aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on youth empowerment, job creation and economic diversification through the creative sector.

Musawa described the MoU as a “transformational partnership” that will equip young creatives with practical skills, mentorship opportunities and global exposure to turn their talents into sustainable careers.

The initiative will focus on digital storytelling, filmmaking, photography, and creative entrepreneurship, with pilot workshops set to begin in Imo State before expanding across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

According to the ministry, the Federal Ministry of Art Culture Tourism MoU aims to “reshape how Nigeria tells its stories to the world,” emphasising cultural representation and local content creation as tools of soft power and national pride.

Through the Lens for Good platform, participants will gain access to mentorship programmes, digital production tools, and storytelling workshops designed to build both technical and business capacity.

The programme seeks to help creatives convert their passion into viable ventures capable of competing internationally.

Industry experts have applauded the development, describing it as a bold and positive move that will formalise the country’s creative economy.

They believe such collaborations will foster structure, investment confidence, and cross-border opportunities for Nigerian artists, filmmakers and digital innovators.
