    Glamour, glitz as B’obagunwa Omo’ba Obinrin Akile Ijebu celebrates New Year party (Photos)

    All roads led to the Millennium Hall Itoro, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State on the 22nd day of January, 2023 when Egbe B’obagunwa Omo’ba Obinrin Akile Ijebu celebrated its New Year party.

    The society was an elite gathering, created for the female indigenes and wives of the Ijebus home and abroad, with the sole aim of keeping the culture, social life and communal spirit amongst the Ijebu women alive. This is also to foster smooth and healthy relationship.

    Egbe B’obagunwa Omo’ba Obinrin Akile Ijebu is designated into different age brackets; women within the age of 40 – 42 (1980, 81, 82) would belong to the same group.

    This group, just as other groups are, is headed by the Iyalode Egbe, Tawakalitu Oluwakemi Bashiru Andu.

    “Our new year party this year is indeed a departure from the past and we’re so much grateful to this year’s host, Yeye Bashorun Sholape Mary Banjo,” Iyalode said.

    Grand canyon national park sees 16th fatality of 2024

    Grand Canyon National Park Fatality September 2024

    A 71-year-old boater’s body was recovered from Grand Canyon National Park, marking the 16th fatality of the year. The National Park Service is investigating.

     

    Grand Canyon National Park has reported its 16th fatality of the year with the recovery of a 71-year-old boater’s body on Tuesday.

    The individual, who was on a private boat trip, went missing after others in the group noticed his absence. The missing man was last seen around Lower Nankoweap Camp, located approximately 53 miles (85 kilometers) from the trip’s starting point.

    The group contacted the park’s communications centre late on Monday to report his disappearance, noting that he had left behind his hat and water bottle.

    Park rangers deployed a helicopter to search for the missing boater, eventually locating the body about 10 miles (16 kilometers) downstream.

    The National Park Service and Coconino County medical examiner’s office are investigating the circumstances surrounding this death, as well as the recent passing of a 59-year-old Colorado man who was found dead on a Colorado River rafting trip over the weekend.

    The Lagos Aviation Academy (LAA) is celebrating a significant achievement after producing the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Best Performer in Nigeria’s travel and tourism examination for July 2024.

    The prestigious IATA Best Performer Award is presented annually to recognise exceptional academic performance in aviation training. This marks the fifth time the academy has produced a top student in this category.

    During a press briefing at LAA’s new Lagos location, Bolaji Durojaiye, the academy’s Head of School, expressed pride in the student’s outstanding performance.

    Oluwafisayomi Layo-Olayemi, the 2024 Best Performer, credited LAA for its quality instruction and strong support system, which helped her excel in the examination.

    She praised the academy for its affordability and the opportunities it provides to advance her career in aviation.

    This milestone reaffirms Lagos Aviation Academy’s position as a leading institution in aviation training, shaping the next generation of professionals in the travel and tourism sector.

    The Promise Land Festival 2024, held from 4th to 6th October, will feature Nigerian Afrobeat stars like Rema, Asake, and Omah Lay, along with global artists in a vibrant musical celebration.

     

    The Promise Land Festival 2024, a highly anticipated international music event, will take place from the 4th to the 6th of October at Doug Jennings Park.

    This multi-genre festival promises to deliver a rich blend of music from various continents, showcasing culturally diverse and invigorating performances.
