The footballer shared the emotional account while reflecting on his upbringing, noting that his mother was the primary provider of the family before her passing, which changed their circumstances significantly.

He explained that despite her role as the breadwinner, there were no conflicts within the household over finances while she was alive.

“My mom was the breadwinner of the family, but she and my dad never had issues because of it,” he said.

Osimhen added that the situation became extremely difficult after her death, leaving the family in severe financial strain and emotional distress.

He recounted moments of humiliation and fear, including hiding whenever the landlord approached due to unpaid rent.

“It broke my dad and we started facing serious struggles. I used to hide anytime I saw the landlord coming because he would insult me over the rent my dad owed,” he said.

The revelation has sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many Nigerians praising his resilience and journey from hardship to international football success.

Some users described his story as inspirational, while others reflected on the broader realities of poverty and survival faced by many families.

A few commentators, however, questioned the narrative, suggesting that celebrity hardship stories are sometimes exaggerated.
