The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) on Thursday honoured the summons by the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Freelanews reports that their presence was in response to the Lagos Assembly’s query over the non-use of Yoruba language for announcements on regulated public transport services.

The Lagos State’s Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture were also summoned.

At the committee hearing were Mr. Oluwaseyi Osiyemi, the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, and Mr. Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser, Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Both Osiyemi and Aregbe hailed the assembly for bringing speaking Yoruba back to the frontrunner and promised to comply with the legislation.

Setonji said that though LAMATA had immediately complied with the directive of the House, there was for ministries and agencies to uphold the regulation.
