The state, celebrated for its cultural heritage and natural beauty, has suffered from inadequate tourism infrastructure. However, change is on the horizon as recent government efforts aim to address these concerns.

Kogi Hotel, a once-proud symbol of the state’s hospitality sector, has been under reconstruction since 2013. Its strategic location and historical significance make it an ideal destination for global tourists.

Unfortunately, delays in remodelling have hindered its progress. Expedient completion of the Kogi Hotel’s reconstruction would undoubtedly restore it as a hub for tourism and economic activity.

Similarly, the Confluence Beach Hotel holds untapped potential. Nestled at the iconic confluence of the Niger and Benue Rivers, its stunning vistas make it a unique tourist attraction.

Yet, the lack of modern facilities deters its ability to attract visitors. A comprehensive remodelling effort here would elevate Kogi State’s tourism profile, drawing both local and international guests.

Another transformative project is the proposed Commissioner Quarters Mini Recreational Structure. This facility could generate employment, attract visitors, and enhance local recreation.

By fostering tourism through such initiatives, Kogi State can stimulate small businesses, create jobs, and foster community development.

Tourism is not just an economic driver but also a cultural ambassador. It promotes cultural exchange, showcases heritage, and supports small enterprises.

Investing in Kogi State’s tourism sector can amplify these benefits, positioning the state as a prime Nigerian tourist destination.

For Kogi State to unlock its full potential, the government must prioritise these projects. Timely completion of the Kogi Hotel, modernisation of the Confluence Beach Hotel, and development of the recreational structure will ensure a brighter economic future for the state.
