Addressing the nation, the Senator representing Zamfara West said Tinubu was not a leader given to empty threats and would ensure that the perpetrators of the massacre are swiftly brought to justice.

Yari, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Water Resources, described the killings as a gruesome murder of innocent and harmless citizens.

He stressed the importance of a collective effort by all Nigerians to tackle insecurity. “We need the whole-of-society approach to be able to defeat this monster and common enemy,” he said.

Reflecting on Tinubu’s immediate visit to Benue following the attack, Yari highlighted the president’s swift response as a clear indication of empathetic and committed leadership.

He said Tinubu suspended other official duties to visit the grieving state, demonstrating what he called “on-the-spot action” rarely seen in leadership today.

“The president is capable of containing the situation,” Yari stated. “Even if it means adopting extreme strategies to give every part of the nation peace, he would do it, because he was elected to secure the nation and the people and this much he understands.”

He praised Tinubu’s decision not to delegate the visit but to personally identify with the victims and people of Benue. According to Yari, this choice showed a president aware of the weight of his responsibilities and one who values the trust placed in him during the election.

Quoting Yari, “The president doesn’t issue an empty threat. He meant what he said and said what he meant. They will not get away with this.”

He insisted that the culprits would be caught and their motives uncovered, noting that security agencies have a clear mandate to deliver results without delay.

The former Zamfara governor further called on Nigerians to see national security as a shared duty. He encouraged citizens to pay attention to their surroundings and promptly report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.

Yari expressed condolences to the families of victims and the government of Benue State. He also offered prayers for the full recovery of those injured, stating that Almighty Allah would perfect their healing.
