Nigeria ACI Africa Conference 2026 confirmed as the country pledges world-class hosting, reinforcing its leadership in Africa’s aviation sector

On Monday, Keyamo received the Secretary-General of ACI Africa, Alli Tounsi, and her delegation in Abuja as part of early consultations and site assessments ahead of the continental conference scheduled for September 2026.

The announcement was made through a statement by the minister’s media aide, Tunde Moshood.

Airports Council International serves as the global trade association for airports worldwide, promoting collective airport interests, supporting safe and efficient operations, and fostering collaboration across the aviation industry.

Hosting the 2026 conference highlights international confidence in Nigeria’s aviation capabilities.

The delegation included top officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), such as Managing Director Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Mr Henry Agbebire, and Director of Commercial and Business Development Mrs Adebola Agunbiade.

Speaking during the visit, Tounsi emphasised Nigeria’s strategic role in Africa’s aviation sector, describing it as a natural choice to host the upcoming conference. She noted the country’s aviation footprint and leadership influence as key factors in the selection.

“Nigeria must host this next ACI Africa Regional Conference. BAGASSO is already in Nigeria, and it is only right that ACI Africa is here too,” Tounsi said.

Responding, Minister Keyamo assured the delegation of Nigeria’s full commitment. “We accept wholeheartedly to host. Nigeria has the capacity, the infrastructure, and the commitment to deliver a world-class conference. You can count on us,” he said.
