Ijebu Detty December launches in Ijebu-Ode from December 29 to 31, 2026, bringing music, culture, comedy, food and tourism to Ijebuland

Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, is set to host the inaugural Ijebu Detty December from Tuesday, December 29, to Thursday, December 31, 2026, as Festival Managers Africa International Limited, led by Managing Director and Chief Experience Officer Otunba Jide Fowode, prepares to introduce a three-day celebration of music, culture, lifestyle and entertainment to Ijebuland.

The new festival is designed to create a distinctive festive-season experience combining live music, comedy, cultural showcases, food, fashion, gaming, tourism, lifestyle activities and brand activations.

Organised by Festival Managers Africa International Limited, the event is expected to attract thousands of young people, professionals, returning indigenes, tourists and entertainment enthusiasts to Ijebu-Ode during the end-of-year period.

The organisers said the festival is being conceived as more than a conventional entertainment gathering. Their ambition is to establish an annual homecoming celebration that showcases the hospitality, creativity, culture and entrepreneurial energy of Ijebuland.

Ijebu-Ode’s position as a commercial and social centre of Ijebuland is central to the concept. The town’s location, hospitality infrastructure, commercial activity and cultural influence make it a potentially attractive destination for visitors travelling to the region during the festive season.

The programme will feature live musical performances, celebrity appearances, DJs and comedy alongside cultural displays and experiences centred on food, fashion, gaming and lifestyle.

Interactive brand activations will also form part of the festival, giving businesses and sponsors an opportunity to engage directly with attendees while connecting their brands to the festive atmosphere.

Speaking about the initiative, Otunba Jide Fowode, Managing Director and Chief Experience Officer of Festival Managers Africa International Limited, described the festival as a long-term entertainment and lifestyle proposition for Ijebuland.

“Ijebu Detty December is a strategic entertainment and lifestyle platform designed to establish a signature December destination in Ijebuland while creating measurable value for brands, businesses and the local economy,” Fowode said.

He added that combining entertainment, culture, consumer engagement and tourism would create opportunities for sponsors to build visibility and establish longer-term relationships with the festival’s audience.

The organisers also expect the event to generate opportunities for local businesses, creatives, food vendors, hospitality operators and other service providers who stand to benefit from increased visitor activity during the three-day programme.

That economic dimension forms an important part of the festival’s wider ambition. Rather than positioning Ijebu Detty December solely as a concert or nightlife event, Fowode and his team are presenting it as a platform capable of connecting entertainment with tourism, commerce and cultural expression.

The concept follows the growing prominence of December entertainment in Nigeria, particularly in Lagos, where a combination of concerts, parties, cultural events and returning-diaspora activities has turned the festive period into a major annual tourism and entertainment season.

Ijebu Detty December seeks to develop a similar festive identity for Ijebuland while giving the region its own cultural character.

The organisers have positioned the event as a homecoming celebration, potentially giving returning indigenes another reason to spend part of the festive season in Ijebu-Ode while introducing visitors to the area’s cultural and commercial attractions.

The three-day schedule, running from December 29 to 31, is also strategically timed to capture the peak of Nigeria’s end-of-year celebrations and the transition into the New Year period.

For Ijebu-Ode, the festival could provide an additional platform for local talent and businesses to reach a wider audience while strengthening the town’s profile as a destination for entertainment and tourism.

For Fowode and Festival Managers Africa International Limited, the longer-term goal is to turn the inaugural event into an enduring December tradition rather than a one-off celebration.
