Police spokespersons SP Abimbola Adebisi and CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that twelve suspects were arrested for distributing handbills warning residents to limit their movement ahead of the event.

The handbills and online posts, which spread fear among Lagosians, prompted the Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh to suspend the festival immediately.

The command warned that no group has the authority to restrict the movement of residents or disrupt public peace.

The planned festival, set for November 27 and 28, was deemed a potential risk for escalating tension and causing public panic.

The police stated that no cultural or traditional activity would be allowed if it threatened safety or disrupted order.

A similar intervention was carried out in Mafoluku, Oshodi, on November 23, after authorities learned of activities that could have sparked unrest.
