Egungun festival in Oyo: A Spectacular Fusion of Egungun Masquerade, Fuji Music and Amala Cuisine

Prepare to be enthralled as the maiden edition of Egungun Festival Oyo State (EFOS 2024) takes centre stage, offering a dynamic showcase of culture, music, and cuisine in the heart of Oyo, the Pace Setter State. From the 11th to the 13th of July 2024, Liberty Stadium will be transformed into a vibrant hub of festivities, inviting all to revel in the rich traditions and talents of Oyo State’s cultural heritage.

EFOS 2024 promises an immersive experience like no other, weaving together the mesmerising performances of Egungun masquerades, the rhythmic beats of Fuji music, and the savouryflavours of Amala cuisine.

Ibile Culture and Tourism Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Malimbe Labs and FUJI: A Opera, presents EFOS 2024.

This fusion of art, music, culture and culinary delights is set to captivate audiences of all ages and backgrounds, fostering a sense of community and celebration.

At the heart of EFOS 2024 lies the essence of the Egungun, the revered symbol of Oyo State’s cultural legacy. The masquerades hold deep historical significance, embodying the spirit of resilience and unity that defines the state’s identity. From their role in ancient battles to their ceremonial presence in cultural festivities, the masquerade stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Oyo’s traditions. EFOS will feature the masquerades from all 33 local governments of Oyo State.

Beyond the historical significance of the masquerade, EFOS 2024 offers a feast for the senses with its lineup of captivating performances and culinary delights.

Attendees can expect to be enthralled by the electrifying Oyo State Fuji music showcases featuring renowned artists, along with other talented performers set to grace the festival.Additionally, the Amala cuisine competition adds a flavorful twist to the festivities, as vendors from across Oyo State compete for the title of the best Amala vendor, showcasing the culinary diversity of the region.
