Final year students of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) create their own vibrant cultural festival, “Ojude FUNAAB,” mirroring the spirit of the traditional Ojude Oba
In a vibrant display of cultural pride and celebratory spirit, the final year students of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) have launched their own version of the renowned “Ojude Oba” festival, aptly named “Ojude FUNAAB.”
This inaugural event, held at the University Sport Centre as the culmination of their final year week, has generated significant buzz on social media.
Mirroring the colorful and joyous atmosphere of the traditional Ijebu Ode festival, FUNAAB’s graduating students, predominantly from Generation Z, showcased their creativity and heritage by donning stunning traditional outfits.
Photos and videos circulating online capture the lively scenes of students celebrating their academic milestone with cultural flair.
This initiative follows a trend set by FUNAAB’s final year students in 2024, who gained attention for their elaborate and creative costume day, featuring recreations from popular movies and portrayals of famous personalities.
However, the creation of “Ojude FUNAAB” in 2025 signifies a significant elevation of this tradition, establishing a unique cultural event within the university community.
FUNAAB, an institution that has produced notable figures such as singer Kizz Daniel, Arise TV journalist Rufai Oseni, and CEO of Intel Region Abdurraheem Olaiya, continues to foster a vibrant and engaging student culture.
“Ojude FUNAAB” is a testament to the students’ initiative and their desire to celebrate their achievements while embracing Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity.
The success of this first “Ojude FUNAAB” suggests it may become an annual tradition, further enriching the university’s vibrant student life and providing a platform for cultural expression.
