Abuja Groovy December

Abuja Groovy December aims to transform the city into Nigeria’s top tourism hub through a vibrant 16-day festival of culture, music, and adventure

Abuja Groovy December is gearing up for its inaugural 16-day celebration, promising a powerful mix of culture, entertainment, and adventure to establish the Federal Capital Territory as Nigeria’s leading tourism destination.

The Chairman of the Groovy December Committee, Imoh Ebang, unveiled the plans in Abuja, stressing the festival’s mission to harness tourism’s vast potential for economic growth.

Running from December 15 to 31, 2025, the event will feature over 35 exciting activities — from jazz and afrobeats concerts to cultural displays, motorsports, food festivals, and competitive sports.

More than 70% of the programs will take place at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, creating a central hub for visitors.

Ebang emphasized that the Abuja Groovy December will serve as a premier year-end festival, blending sophistication with diverse entertainment to surpass other regional events in scale and impact.

The festival also seeks to combat Nigeria’s underdeveloped tourism sector, urging Nigerians to become tourism ambassadors, promote positive media narratives, and invest in tourism infrastructure.

Programme Coordinator Kenneth Kalu noted the event will complement, not compete with, the Calabar Festival, aiming to revive dormant tourism sites in Abuja.

With former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia as Brand Ambassador, the Abuja Groovy December is positioning itself as more than just a party — it’s a movement to attract the world to Nigeria.
