Ogun State generates ₦250 billion IGR by 2025, driven by reforms, infrastructure investment, and rising investor confidence

Speaking during a statewide broadcast marking the 50th anniversary of the state’s creation, Abiodun said the revenue growth reflects sustained economic reforms, improved governance, and growing investor confidence.

“Ogun’s IGR has expanded sharply from about ₦52 billion in 2020 to approximately ₦250 billion in 2025,” he noted, highlighting the state’s economy as now valued at an estimated ₦17 trillion.

The governor attributed the growth to political stability, inclusive governance, religious tolerance, and Ogun’s strategic location.

He added that aggressive infrastructure investments, including the construction and rehabilitation of over 1,600 kilometres of roads, have further strengthened economic activity.

Abiodun highlighted the completion and certification of Gateway International Airport and ongoing projects such as the Kajola and Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Ports, as well as plans for the Olokola Deep Sea Port, which are expected to boost commerce and investment.

Education, he said, remains central to Ogun’s identity, with a high concentration of federal, state, and private tertiary institutions supporting human capital development.

Reflecting on 50 years since the state’s creation, Abiodun paid tribute to past leaders and pioneers, noting Ogun’s reputation as a “fountain of excellence” that has produced national and global figures.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and urged residents, particularly the youth, to remain committed to sustaining the state’s progress.
