The Yoruba Cultural Festival 2025 in Abuja is set to be a vibrant platform for promoting peace, unity, and national development, according to its organisers.
This significant event aims to bring together Yoruba sons and daughters residing in Abuja and surrounding areas for a grand celebration of their rich heritage.
Mr. Abdulhakeem Adetunji, President of the Yoruba Community in Abuja, and Pastor Gabriel Oladabo, Chairman of the Organising Committee, announced that the festival is scheduled for June 21 at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, Abuja.
“The festival seeks to reconnect with our cultural roots, showcase the beauty of our traditions, and foster unity, peace, and progress among our people,” they stated. This third edition promises to be a spectacular celebration of Yoruba heritage, culture, and unity.
Highlights of the event will include a captivating array of traditional music, rhythmic drumming, dynamic cultural dance performances, and an authentic Yoruba culinary experience. Attendees can also look forward to engaging craft exhibitions, elaborate fashion displays, intriguing folklore, and powerful oral poetry (Ewi).
Beyond entertainment, the programme will feature insightful panel discussions on critical topics such as Yoruba identity, youth empowerment, and cultural diplomacy, fostering meaningful dialogue within the community.
Other key segments include a majestic royal parade of Yoruba Obas and traditional rulers, as well as awards and recognition for individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Yoruba culture and development.
The organisers noted that this cultural convergence is designed to be a family-friendly, interactive experience aimed at educating, entertaining, and uniting all participants.
They further highlighted that the festival would offer valuable business exhibitions, networking opportunities, and enhanced brand visibility for partners and sponsors.
“We call on all Yoruba descendants, culture enthusiasts, media partners, businesses, and friends of Yoruba culture to be a part of this historic celebration,” the organisers urged.
