The Olokuku of Okuku, Oba Abioye Oyebode President of the Odo-Otin Traditional Council—confirmed the intervention efforts in an interview on Friday. According to him, steps are being taken to de-escalate the issue and maintain unity in the local government.

Reports indicate that the Speaker allegedly threatened the monarch in a recorded conversation captured by the Alasi’s wife, sparking concern among traditional rulers in the region.

Oba Oyebode said a meeting was held at his palace on Thursday involving fellow monarchs: the Oloyan of Oyan, the Atapara of Iyeku, and the Alagbeye of Agbeye.

After discussions, they agreed to invite Oba Oyewale to explain his side of the story and designated both the Olokuku and the Oloyan to lead the inquiry.

“Egbedun, as our representative in government, has the support of traditional rulers. He has brought development projects and empowered our people. But we need clarity on what transpired,” Oba Oyebode noted.

Similarly, Oba Kilani Adekeye, the Oloyan of Oyan, said he rushed back home upon hearing of the disagreement. “I’ve spoken to both parties. Egbedun assured me that the matter ends now, and that’s commendable. He’s a good child,” he said.
