Nigeria’s richest states, based on their Gross Domestic Product (GDP), contribute immensely to the nation’s overall wealth.

Ranked by BudgIT, Lagos leads with a GDP of over 41 trillion Naira, making it the economic powerhouse of Nigeria and Africa’s most populous city.

Lagos thrives as the financial hub of the nation, excelling in commerce, entertainment, and technology.

Rivers State, with a GDP of over 7 trillion Naira, is a significant player in Nigeria’s oil industry, boasting seaports and a rapidly growing infrastructure.

Akwa Ibom and Imo also contribute over 7 trillion Naira each, thanks to their oil production, agriculture, and tourism sectors.

Delta State, with a GDP of 6 trillion Naira, stands out as a major producer of petroleum and solid minerals. Anambra, Ondo, Ogun, Bayelsa, and Niger follow, each contributing between 4 and 5 trillion Naira, driven by agriculture, industrialisation, and natural resource exploitation.

These states’ resources and industries form the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, showcasing the nation’s vast wealth beyond oil.
