Ondo State vows to promote Yoruba culture, assures equal respect for tradition and religion, as group seeks August 20 Iṣẹṣe Day holiday

The Ondo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the rich culture of the state and Yoruba land, with plans to intensify cultural awareness campaigns.

Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Adesoji Afolabi, made this known while hosting members of the Egbe Onisese Agbaye in Akure.

Afolabi assured that the ministry would not relent in its duty to safeguard and promote Ondo State’s cultural heritage, stressing that no religion is superior to another.

“Our ministry will continue to enlighten the public on the need to respect tradition as much as other faiths. Culture is our identity, and we must preserve it,” Afolabi said.

Earlier, the association urged the state government to declare August 20 as a public holiday in celebration of Iṣẹṣe Day, a date dedicated to traditional religion and heritage in Yorubaland.
