MTN Nigeria has launched the “See Naija” campaign, a platform aimed at changing how the world perceives Nigeria. Through culturally rich, personal storytelling, the campaign seeks to highlight Nigeria’s diversity, culture, and tourism potential.
Emamoke O, General Manager of Brand & Communication at MTN Nigeria, explained that negative online content about Nigeria affects how the country is viewed internationally.
The “See Naija” campaign aims to replace these perceptions with stories of Nigerian resilience, culture, and tourism opportunities.
The platform will allow people to share videos showcasing Nigeria’s unique attributes, including its fashion, food, and natural wonders.
MTN’s Chief Operating Officer, Ayham Moussa, highlighted the importance of promoting Nigeria’s fighting spirit, especially in the tourism sector, which has the potential to become a major contributor to the country’s GDP.
With Nigeria’s tourism sector contributing only 1.5% to GDP, compared to 7-10% in other African nations, the “See Naija” platform hopes to attract more international attention to the country’s tourism potential.
Frank Okwuye, Senior Manager of Brands and Communications, reinforced the campaign’s mission to show the world the best of Nigeria.
He urged all Nigerians to contribute to the platform by sharing their own stories, helping to change the global narrative one step at a time.
The “See Naija” platform provides Nigerians the opportunity to upload two-minute videos showcasing the country’s beauty, culture, and people.
These contributions are expected to not only alter global perceptions but also encourage tourism, generating employment opportunities and boosting Nigeria’s economy.
