In an endorsement letter signed on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, the Ministry expressed full support for the event being organised by Imo State University (IMSU) under the leadership of Prof. Gloria Ernest-Samuel, Professor of Media and Film Studies and Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee for ISFF 2025.

According to the Ministry, the endorsement aligns with the vision of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSSRS, Governor of Imo State, to advance creativity, culture, tourism, and hospitality within the state.

“This programme is in tandem with the vision of His Excellency, the Governor of Imo State, as well as the mandate of the Ministry to encourage all aspects of creativity, including film making, film production, and tourism promotion,” the statement read.

The Ministry further described the festival as a valuable platform for talent discovery and youth development, aligning with the state’s broader initiative on youth empowerment and creative engagement, exemplified by the creation of the Ministry of Youth Development and Talent Hunt.

The endorsement reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing support for the successful hosting of the 2025 edition of the festival in Owerri.

The International Students Film Festival (ISFF) is an annual event that unites young filmmakers, media scholars, and creative talents from within and outside Nigeria to celebrate innovation, storytelling, and culture through film.
