Creative Economy Data Mapping Report

Creative Economy Data Mapping Report launched in Lagos to unlock Nigeria’s creative sectors and guide investment across film, music, fashion and more

The groundbreaking study was unveiled on Thursday in Lagos during the Creative Industries Economic Coordination and Investment Summit, an event organised by the British Council as part of the 2025 Creative Economy Week.

Billed as the first mapping exercise of its kind, the report provides an in-depth analysis of Nigeria’s creative economy, identifying high-growth areas such as film, music, fashion, design, digital content, tourism, and cultural infrastructure.

It also highlights urgent gaps in financing, infrastructure, and policy frameworks that need addressing to enable the sector to flourish.

Aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, the initiative seeks to create two million jobs in the creative economy by 2030.

Officials emphasised that the report is designed as more than a study—it is a practical tool for investors, policymakers, and development partners to make informed decisions and forge sustainable collaborations.

“This report is not just a document; it is a strategic tool for national development,” said Dr Nneka Ikem Anibeze, Special Adviser on Media & Publicity to the Minister.

“With the right partnerships and policy support, Nigeria’s creative economy can become a major engine of inclusive economic growth.”
