Lagos cultural heritage preservation gets a boost as Sanwo-Olu partners with NCMM to protect historic sites, promote tourism, and empower creative SMEs

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu today hosted Mr Olugbile Holloway, Director-General of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM), at the Lagos House, Marina.

The meeting focused on strengthening Lagos cultural heritage preservation through deeper collaboration.

Governor Sanwo-Olu and the NCMM team discussed how Lagos could further lead national efforts to protect historic sites, elevate cultural institutions, and preserve artistic assets.

The governor highlighted the economic and educational value of heritage preservation, stressing its role in shaping identity and boosting tourism.

“Our history matters,” the governor stated. “I’m pleased that we are building stronger partnerships with the NCMM to protect and promote our cultural heritage. Lagos must remain a hub for cultural pride, education, and preservation.”

The renewed alliance will support the restoration of heritage sites, development of cultural tourism, and broader involvement of the private sector.

These efforts are expected to unlock new growth opportunities for SMEs across the arts, culture, and tourism sectors.
