This was disclosed by the Festival’s Director General, Alhaji Sufyanu Garba Bena, during a press briefing on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.

The meeting, chaired by Kebbi Deputy Governor Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, follows the directive of Governor Dr. Nasir Idris, who ordered immediate and sustained planning for the February 2026 festival.

Bena recalled that the main committee was first inaugurated on October 9, 2024. However, due to infrastructural requirements, the festival was postponed from 2025 to 2026.

At the resumed session, the committee deliberated on critical issues, including budget reviews. The initial ₦7.8 billion estimate was revised down by the Due Process Committee to ₦3.8 billion.

Further cost adjustments and innovative revenue strategies are now being explored to ease government spending.

According to Bena, the 2026 edition aims to stand out for its grandeur, cultural depth, and emphasis on self-sustainability. He assured that the committee is committed to delivering a truly befitting festival and promised regular updates as preparations progress.
