Yoruba Community Abuja Organises Festival

The Yoruba Community Abuja, FCT, the umbrella body of all Yoruba groups in Abuja the nation’s capital, established to foster unity, promote culture, well being and champion the individual and collective cause of Yorubas in the Federal Capital Territory has announced plans for the maiden edition of the Yoruba Cultural Festival in celebration of the Yoruba rich, traditional cultural heritage.

This was disclosed in a signed statement by the socio – cultural group’s President Chief Dr Abdul – Hakeem Adetunji Mosebolatan, President, Yoruba Community, Abuja FCT. In the statement, Chief Mosebolatan disclosed that Yorubas living in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja have come together to organise the Yoruba Cultural Festival with the key objective of the presentation and preservation of the Yoruba culture to the nation and the world by Yorubas living outside of Yorubaland.

“ The Yoruba Cultural Festival is an initiative of the Yoruba Community Abuja envisioned and conceptualised as an annual showcase of the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people through the exposition of the language, food, fashion, music, dance and other art forms in an atmosphere of fun and fanfare in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory”, the statement said.

The statement further revealed that the three (3) day Yoruba Cultural Festival Abuja is scheduled to take place on April 29th, 30th and 1st May 2023 at the Mini Stadium, Area 10, Abuja from 9:00am to 10:00pm daily.

Expected at the event are contingents from all the Yoruba speaking states led by the state Governors, Yoruba residents in Abuja and environs, Yorubas from the Northern states of the federation, Yoruba traditional rulers and leaders, representatives of Yoruba socio – cultural groups and associates, Yoruba Culture Advocates and Enthusiasts as well as brands and corporate organisations.
