Mercy Eke Reveals Why She Had BBL, saying peer pressure influenced her decision while reflecting on her body confidence after the procedure
Nigerian media personality and reality television star Mercy Eke has revealed that peer pressure and prevailing beauty trends influenced her decision to undergo a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), explaining that the procedure was a personal choice she made despite already feeling confident about her body.
The Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner shared the experience during an interview with media personality Korty EO, where she discussed the reasons behind the cosmetic procedure and the emotions surrounding her decision.
Eke said the decision came at a time when BBL procedures had become increasingly popular, admitting that social influence played a role in her choice.
“At the time it was just the trend, maybe peer pressure cause I have a beautiful body,” she said.
The reality star explained that she kept the decision private from her family, particularly her mother, because she feared being discouraged from going ahead with the procedure.
“I was really scared, I didn’t tell my mum because I didn’t want anybody to discourage me,” Eke said.
She revealed that she underwent the surgery alongside two friends who had also planned to have the procedure, describing the recovery period as one of the most challenging parts of the experience.
“It was me and my two other friends, we planned it together and did it at the same time,” she said.
According to Eke, the recovery process involved significant discomfort, including post-surgery pain and restrictions during sleep.
“After the surgery you get to have your massage and I think that is the painful part and the fact that you won’t sleep with your butt for 14 days, you have to lay with your stomach,” she explained.
Despite the challenges, Eke said she is satisfied with the outcome and now feels comfortable with her body.
“It is soft now,” she added.
The discussion has renewed conversations around beauty standards, cosmetic procedures and the influence of social trends on personal decisions, particularly among young people and public figures.
Eke has remained one of Nigeria’s most recognisable reality television personalities since winning Big Brother Naija Season 4, building a career in entertainment, fashion and media.
