Toke Makinwa 30s Reflection reveals her personal experiences as the media personality advises women to prioritise self-discovery before marriage

Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has opened up about her experiences in her 30s, describing the period as one of the most difficult phases of her life while encouraging women to take time for personal growth before making major life decisions.

Makinwa shared her thoughts during a recent episode of her podcast with BBNaija star Tacha.

The reflection centred on self-discovery, relationships and the importance of understanding oneself before settling down.

Makinwa said she would not want to return to her 30s, describing the decade as a challenging period filled with lessons and personal experiences.

“I don’t want to go back to my 30s; they were the worst years of my life,” she said.

The media personality reflected on her younger years, revealing that she spent much of her 20s in one relationship and wished she had explored life more before gaining certain experiences later.

“I spent my 20s with just one man, but I wish I had explored more because he gave me the experiences,” she said.

Makinwa also said she was grateful she did not have a child during that period, noting that she had learned important lessons about herself along the way.

“I wasn’t innocent, and I’m glad I didn’t have a baby in my 30s,” she added.

During the conversation, the broadcaster advised women against rushing into marriage in their 20s, arguing that many people are still discovering their identity and priorities at that stage of life.

“Women have no business getting married in their 20s. You don’t even know yourself yet. Those who did are regretting it now,” she said.
