Tourism Reset Agenda launched by Governor Makinde aims to transform Oyo State’s tourism sector via investment-ready sites, transparency, and sustainable growth
Tourism Reset Agenda is the newest and boldest step by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to reposition tourism as a powerful engine of economic growth.
Speaking at the 2025 International Tourism Summit’s grand finale in Ibadan, Makinde unveiled the Tourism Reset Agenda, a strategic initiative aimed at eliminating institutional barriers, attracting investors, and making tourism a self-sustaining sector.
Key components include placing the Ministry of Culture and Tourism under the governor’s direct oversight, creating a Tourism Investor Liaison Unit, and launching a transparent, real-time Tourism Investment Dashboard next month.
“Transparency is not a bonus — it is the new baseline,” Makinde declared.
The roadmap also features a Tourism Compact, a five-page MoU template designed to streamline project timelines and simplify agreements. The agenda aligns with infrastructure renewal, youth employment, and diaspora engagement.
Investment-ready sites such as Eleyele Lake, Idere Hills, and Ibadan Cultural Centre were pitched during the summit, with themes like “Climb into Nature’s ROI” and “Discover Blue Gold.”
Despite setbacks in the Agodi Gardens redevelopment project, Makinde assured stakeholders the delays were fixable: “Let us call it what it is — institutional bottlenecks… we will move forward with it.”
Traditional rulers, lawmakers, and senior government officials joined investors and international guests for tours, exhibitions, and panel discussions around African cultural capital.
Governor Makinde concluded with a powerful call to action:
“We are not promising perfection, but we are committing to performance. Let us build a legacy together.”
