The organisers aim to make it an annual event held immediately after the state’s renowned Christmas festival.

The Festival Director, Harmony Ikwoh Oduong, announced the initiative while addressing journalists in Calabar. He highlighted the festival’s agenda, which includes a cooking competition, cultural displays, a bikers’ parade, talent showcases, and a celebration of Cross River State’s rich cuisine.

Participants in these competitions will have the chance to win enticing prizes, promising an engaging and rewarding experience for attendees.

Oduong emphasised that Kulturama aims to boost Cross River State’s tourism appeal, offering both residents and visitors an unforgettable taste of the region’s heritage.

“This event will add immense value to our tourism sector, attracting audiences locally and internationally,” he noted.

In support of the festival, Ekpenyong Ojoi, Managing Director of the Cross River State Tourism Bureau, lauded the growth of the tourism sector under the current administration.

He revealed that the Marina Resort, one of the state’s top tourist facilities, generates an impressive ₦8 billion annually.

“Marina Resort has not only attracted substantial revenue but has also enhanced transportation between Calabar and Uyo, valued at over ₦2 billion.

By December, we will commission an all-inclusive entertainment centre at the resort,” Ojoi stated. “Kulturama will complement these efforts, drawing more people to experience the beauty of Cross River State.”

The festival’s launch aligns with the government’s vision to promote the state as a cultural and tourism hub.

With its combination of culinary delights, artistic talent, and cultural showcases, Kulturama is set to become a hallmark event that celebrates the essence of Cross River State.
