Barrifest 2024 holds in Ibadan

LanreA release by Secretary of the BarryFest, Asiwaju Ademola Adesingbin indicated that the event would hold between February 9, 2024 when Barrister would have clocked 76 and February 10, 2024.
“We are going to observe a special birthday Jumat Prayer at the Muftau Lanihun Mosque, Ibadan. Later, we are going to unveil a Cenotaph in memory of Barrister on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway,” he said.
According to Adesingbin, a gala night would wrap up the Day One at the Ilaji Hotel and Resort, Akanran, Ibadan.
“On Day Two, that is, February 10, we are going to host invited guests such as Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, Yeye Adunola Oredolapo Adesuyi while Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu will deliver a paper as guest Speaker.”
After the lecture, premiere of the first episode of Fuji documentary titled “Mr Fuji Barry Wonder” by a US-based Professor Saheed Aderinto will hold; followed by presentation of award and live performances by fuji musicians.
“We have done all we should to host yet another historic event in honour of Alhaji Barrister who remains our source of joy 13 years after his death,” Adesingbin said

LanreA 71-year-old boater’s body was recovered from Grand Canyon National Park, marking the 16th fatality of the year. The National Park Service is investigating.
Grand Canyon National Park has reported its 16th fatality of the year with the recovery of a 71-year-old boater’s body on Tuesday.
The individual, who was on a private boat trip, went missing after others in the group noticed his absence. The missing man was last seen around Lower Nankoweap Camp, located approximately 53 miles (85 kilometers) from the trip’s starting point.

The group contacted the park’s communications centre late on Monday to report his disappearance, noting that he had left behind his hat and water bottle.
Park rangers deployed a helicopter to search for the missing boater, eventually locating the body about 10 miles (16 kilometers) downstream.
The National Park Service and Coconino County medical examiner’s office are investigating the circumstances surrounding this death, as well as the recent passing of a 59-year-old Colorado man who was found dead on a Colorado River rafting trip over the weekend.

The prestigious IATA Best Performer Award is presented annually to recognise exceptional academic performance in aviation training. This marks the fifth time the academy has produced a top student in this category.

During a press briefing at LAA’s new Lagos location, Bolaji Durojaiye, the academy’s Head of School, expressed pride in the student’s outstanding performance.

Oluwafisayomi Layo-Olayemi, the 2024 Best Performer, credited LAA for its quality instruction and strong support system, which helped her excel in the examination.
She praised the academy for its affordability and the opportunities it provides to advance her career in aviation.
This milestone reaffirms Lagos Aviation Academy’s position as a leading institution in aviation training, shaping the next generation of professionals in the travel and tourism sector.
