Spotify releases its 2026 Songs of Summer predictions featuring Tems, Drake and Ariana Grande, while launching in-app fan voting for the first time
Spotify has unveiled its 2026 Songs of Summer predictions, featuring a 30-track global list that includes Nigerian singer Tems, American rapper Drake, and pop star Ariana Grande among artists expected to shape the season’s sound.
The global streaming platform released the curated selection on Monday, highlighting tracks it believes will dominate listening trends across the Northern Hemisphere during the summer period.
For the first time, Spotify also introduced an in-app voting feature, allowing users to select their own Song of the Summer directly within the platform and share their choices across social media.
The voting system is integrated into the Songs of Summer playlist, giving listeners the ability to actively participate in predicting the season’s biggest global hit.
Tems appears on the list through her collaboration with British rapper Dave on the track “Raindance”, while Ghanaian duo DopeNation are featured with their viral song “Kakalika”, which has gained international attention, including use in football celebrations.
Spotify’s editorial team said the 2026 list reflects evolving global music trends, blending nostalgia, cross-cultural collaboration, and emotionally driven storytelling.
The platform identified four major themes shaping the selection, including a resurgence of nostalgic dance music, global fusion sounds, emotional “Sadboy Summer” tracks, and introspective “Postcard Country” records tied to specific locations.
The full list includes a wide range of artists such as Drake, Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, PinkPantheress, Zara Larsson and Noah Kahan, alongside emerging global acts.
Tracks like “New Religion” by Bebe Rexha and Faithless, and “Girl Like Me” by PinkPantheress reflect the growing influence of retro-inspired production styles in modern pop music.
Spotify also highlighted “Sadboy Summer” as a rising trend, with emotionally driven songs such as Dominic Fike’s “Babydoll” and Malcolm Todd’s “Earrings” gaining traction.
Another trend, “Postcard Country,” focuses on reflective storytelling tied to geography, led by songs such as Kacey Musgraves’ “Mexico Honey” and Noah Kahan’s “Doors.”
The list also features collaborative and genre-blending tracks such as “Raindance” by Dave featuring Tems and “Kakalika” by DopeNation, which reflects Afro-fusion and Amapiano influences.
Spotify’s introduction of fan voting marks a shift toward greater audience participation in shaping its seasonal music predictions, expanding engagement beyond editorial curation.
The final Songs of Summer 2026 will be determined as streaming trends evolve over the coming months.
