Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has made global music history after becoming the first African artiste to surpass 11 billion Spotify streams across all credits.

Wizkid 11 billion Spotify streams record marks a significant milestone in his decade-long rise as one of Africa’s most influential music exports, driven by consistent global streaming growth and high-profile collaborations.

His catalogue has continued to attract massive international audiences, with major contributions from chart-topping collaborations such as “One Dance” with Drake and Kyla, as well as solo and feature-driven hits including “Essence” featuring Tems.

The achievement follows his earlier record in 2026, when he became the first African artiste to reach 10 billion Spotify streams, highlighting his sustained dominance on the global streaming platform.

Wizkid, a Grammy Award-winning artiste, has played a central role in the international expansion of Afrobeats, with performances and collaborations that have helped push the genre further into mainstream global music markets.
