Soludo Igbo nation call stresses unity, dialogue, and moral rebirth as he urges Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu for inclusive discussions

Soludo Igbo nation call has resonated strongly as the Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, urged Ndigbo to embrace collaboration, unity, and honest dialogue to build a liveable and prosperous homeland.

Speaking on Monday in Awka at the 2025 World Igbo Day celebration organised by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Soludo stressed the need for reflection on the past and a renewed commitment to shaping the future.

The event carried the theme “Onye Aghana Nwanne Ya” (Be your brother’s keeper).

He praised Ohanaeze for designating September 29 as a day of remembrance for those who died in the pursuit of Nigeria’s nationhood, describing it as a solemn step towards healing.

Soludo also cautioned against glorifying war, noting that only those who had never witnessed its horrors would desire it.

“For those craving for war, it is because they never saw one. Those who truly saw war will never pray for such to befall Igbo land, Nigeria, or any nation,” he warned.

The governor called on Ohanaeze to take a firm stance against insecurity and criminality in the South-East while championing a moral rebirth rooted in core Igbo values such as integrity, hard work, and enterprise.

“We need the cleansing of Igbo land to revive and promote our value system. Ohanaeze must rise up and lead this moral transformation,” he said.

Soludo further appealed to President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, arguing that his participation was vital to any roundtable discussion on the future of the Igbo nation.

Also present, Senator Ned Nwoko urged support for the creation of Anioma state as the sixth state in the South-East, while emphasising the preservation of Igbo traditions and values. He called on leaders and communities to promote peace, law, and order.

In his remarks, Ohanaeze President-General Senator John Mbata, represented by his deputy Okey Nwadinobi, underscored the importance of unity and a prosperous homeland anchored on peace, progress, and a stronger Nigeria.
