The four-day global event, which runs from October 30 to November 2, 2025, will hold in Port Harcourt, showcasing African storytelling, cultural pride, and cinematic innovation.

Festival Director Kate Ezeigbo announced the details during a press briefing on Wednesday, highlighting that the event will promote Rivers State as a peaceful and thriving destination for culture, film, and investment.

“Our 2025 edition will screen 272 films from 65 countries, including Ghana and Zimbabwe. This is a testament to how far RIFF has grown in spotlighting indigenous creativity and global collaboration,” Ezeigbo said.

She added that this year’s edition focuses on authentic African storytelling, connecting heritage with resilience while supporting Nigeria’s creative economy through film, tourism, and innovation.

The festival will feature film screenings, masterclasses, exhibitions, and cultural tours that highlight the state’s heritage and creative potential.

Ezeigbo also confirmed that the RIFF Free Medical Initiative will return, offering free medical checkups, treatments, and surgeries for participants, alongside talent hunts, pitch sessions, and youth skill programmes.

“The essence of RIFF is not just entertainment; it’s social impact. Last year, we gave free medical diagnosis and treatment to about 1,000 people. We’re doing even more this year,” she added.

Dr. Ken Osunwa, Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Rivers Chapter, and member of the RIFF Board of Trustees, said the event will redefine global perceptions of Rivers State.

“We are changing the narrative. For too long, Rivers State was seen through the lens of political instability. Through RIFF, we’re showing the world that Rivers is safe, beautiful, and ready for investment in the creative economy,” he said.

The festival, organised by Desgol Entertainment Worldwide, is expected to attract over 30,000 attendees, including filmmakers, investors, students, and media professionals.

It will culminate in the prestigious RIFF Awards Night, celebrating outstanding works in film, creativity, and innovation.
