Ondo State leverages tourism for economic growth

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa announced plans to boost the state’s economy through tourism during the 2024 Igogo festival. Represented by his deputy, the governor highlighted the festival’s role in showcasing Ondo’s economic potential and promoting unity, while also announcing a major entrepreneurship festival in November to attract global investors.

 

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has revealed his administration’s commitment to leveraging tourism as a driver of economic growth.

He made this announcement during the 2024 Igogo festival, a cultural celebration in Owo, Ondo State, on Tuesday.

The Igogo festival, which annually honours the cultural heritage of the Owo people, reached its peak as attendees dressed in traditional white attires gathered for a grand procession led by the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, emphasised the importance of festivals like Igogo in uniting communities and enhancing the state’s economic viability.

Governor Aiyedatiwa stated, “Through tourism and festivals like the Igogo festival, people from all walks of life will come to Ondo State to see for themselves how economically viable the state is.”

 

 

He also announced that Ondo State would be hosting the world’s largest entrepreneurship festival this November, expecting over 200 investors to participate. This initiative aims to further promote Ondo’s economic potential on a global stage.

He congratulated the Olowo and the people of Owo for the successful festival and called for continued unity within the community.

The governor’s focus on tourism and entrepreneurship reflects his administration’s vision for long-term economic growth and development.
