Ondo State Beach Tourism Potential

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s efforts to unlock Ondo State’s riverine economic potential gained significant backing for beach tourism at the recent Araromi Beach Carnival, with major investor interest now brewing

Ondo State Beach Tourism is set for a significant boost as Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration continues its strategic drive to unlock the vast economic potential of the state’s riverine areas.

This commitment was powerfully reinforced at the recently concluded Araromi Beach Carnival, where the Abdul Adetunji Mohammed (ATM) Foundation publicly threw its weight behind the initiative.

The carnival, a collaborative effort between the Ondo State Government, the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA), and Adellamodels/events’ CEO Princess Erelu Tomoloju (a government consultant), also saw the notable presence of philanthropist and APC founding member in Ondo State, Dr. Taiwo Malumi, as Father of the Day.

Adetunji Abdul, the promoter of the ATM Foundation, highlighted the critical role of beach development in advancing Nigeria’s Blue Economy, a vision directly aligned with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration for a diversified national economy.

“The Ilaje region holds significant potential to boost Ondo State’s GDP if properly harnessed,” Adetunji Abdul stated. “Our foundation is ready to collaborate with the government to develop the beach ecosystem for sustainable economic growth.”

He further elaborated, “Beach development and tourism are vital for community and economic growth. Tourism generates revenue, creating jobs in hospitality, transportation, and entertainment. These developments attract investment, improving infrastructure and services.”

Abdul also stressed the ATM Foundation’s commitment to Ondo State’s infrastructure development, aiming to diversify the economy and reduce its reliance on oil.

“Beach resorts and attractions draw visitors, increasing the state’s internally generated revenue. This revenue supports public services and infrastructure, improving the quality of life for residents,” he submitted.

With the ongoing coastal road project poised to significantly shorten travel times between Lagos and Calabar, Adetunji Abdul revealed exciting ongoing discussions with major international investors, including the Radisson Group and Marriott International, to bring high-end developments to the region.

He added that the impending commencement of the Ondo Deep Sea Port would transform the Ilaje area into a major commercial corridor, profoundly impacting the lives of Ondo’s citizens.

Adetunji Abdul concluded by urging the youth and all citizens of Ondo State to continue their unwavering support for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s relentless efforts towards the state’s industrialisation and economic transformation.
