Olumo Rock revenue hits N20m weekly after renovation as Governor Abiodun says Ogun’s economy has quadrupled, boosting tourism and investment

The governor revealed this on Friday while hosting the management team of MAG Group, led by strategic adviser Mr Fayad Fayad, at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Abiodun explained that before its facelift, the historic site generated just N20 million annually. The transformation, however, has turned the tourist destination into a major revenue driver, attracting thousands of visitors every week.

To manage the surge, the state has introduced online registration, with daily visitor limits to ensure safety and prevent stampedes.

Highlighting Ogun’s broader economic growth, Abiodun said: “Over the last six years, we have grown Ogun State’s economy from N3.5 trillion to N16 trillion, making us one of the fastest-growing economies in Nigeria.

This reflects our deliberate efforts in infrastructure, basic amenities, and tourism revitalisation, with Olumo Rock now generating about N20 million weekly.”

The governor disclosed further plans to invest in modern recreation centres, game villages and luxury hotels to strengthen tourism and leisure offerings for residents and neighbouring states.

Assuring MAG Group of government support, Abiodun emphasised that Ogun’s investor-friendly environment had made it one of Nigeria’s top investment destinations.
