Daddy Freeze has reacted to the ongoing Olodo Uprising debate, saying it is unfair to blame content creator Peller for wider societal concerns

Media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has weighed in on the ongoing Olodo Uprising debate, stating that content creator Peller should not be held responsible for broader concerns about declining academic values in Nigeria.

The discussion gained momentum after Nigerian rapper Oludemilade Martin Alejo, known professionally as Ycee, criticised what he described as a growing “Peller culture,” arguing that society is increasingly rewarding viral fame over education and intellectual development.

Ycee’s remarks sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many users debating whether the rise of online content creators reflects a cultural shift away from academic excellence or simply an expansion of modern career opportunities.

Reacting to the controversy, Daddy Freeze argued that the backlash directed at Peller was misplaced, insisting that the content creator did not create the system he operates within.

According to him, “Yes, we have an Olodo culture in Nigeria. But I find it unfair to put the blame on Peller, who is an intelligent young man that took advantage of a broken system. He didn’t break the system.”

Daddy Freeze maintained that the issue being discussed is structural and societal rather than personal, stressing that individuals who succeed within digital platforms are responding to existing realities rather than causing them.

The conversation has continued to divide opinion online, with supporters of Ycee insisting that the trend reflects a worrying decline in academic aspiration, while others argue that digital content creation represents a legitimate and evolving form of economic opportunity.

Some social media users also criticised the framing of the debate, saying it unfairly personalises a broader societal issue, while others maintained that public influence comes with responsibility.
