The festival, initially scheduled to commence on Saturday, 22 November 2025, in Enugu State, will now take place at a later date.

The ministry cited recent insecurity incidents across Nigeria, which have caused widespread grief and disruption, as the reason for the postponement.

Honourable Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa, in consultation with stakeholders, approved the decision in solidarity with affected families and communities.

NAFEST, recognised as a flagship cultural event, is celebrated for promoting national unity, social cohesion, and cultural diplomacy. It provides a platform to showcase Nigeria’s diversity, inclusiveness, and hospitality.

This year’s edition had already attracted participation from over 28 states and was intended to send a strong message of resilience and unity.

The ministry emphasised that postponing the festival is a respectful and responsible response to the current national mood.

A new date will be announced following consultations with state governments, cultural institutions, and security agencies to ensure the event can proceed under circumstances befitting a national celebration.
