This initiative is set to increase awareness and attract more visitors to these cultural hubs, reinforcing Lagos as a premier destination for art and tourism.

THE Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts & Culture, Hon. Idris Aregbe has undertaken a visionary initiative to elevate Lagos’ cultural landmarks. This step aims to both preserve the City’s rich heritage and enhance its appeal on both local and global stages.

A statement made available for publication by the Idris Aregbe Media (IAM) read: “Our journey included visits to the Iwalewa Gallery of Art, Odama Gallery of Art, Nike Art Gallery, Lekki Conservation Centre, and the Museum of Living Art. Each location provided valuable insights and opportunities for enhancing Lagos’ cultural and artistic landscape.

These visits were crucial in identifying ways to strengthen collaborations, enrich cultural experiences, and broaden our reach in promoting the city’s artistic heritage.

“We did not leave out our very own John Randle Yoruba Culture and History Centre, an important State-owned institution. Our visit to this centre was particularly focused on exploring potential partnerships with other art centres. I, along with several stakeholders, engaged in discussions to explore how we can increase our partnerships and further enhance the John Randle Centre’s role in showcasing Lagos’ vibrant cultural scene.”

Hon. Idris Aregbe emphasised, “Our art industry must be a core reason for visiting Lagos. By strengthening these partnerships and enhancing our cultural sites, we ensure that both residents and visitors experience the full richness of our heritage.”

This initiative is set to increase awareness and attract more visitors to these cultural hubs, reinforcing Lagos as a premier destination for art and tourism.
