Lagos Cultural Weekend 2025 will celebrate heritage with art, music, fashion, and culinary showcases across key city landmarks from Nov. 14–16
Lagos Cultural Weekend 2025 will light up the city from November 14 to 16 with a three-day extravaganza across iconic venues including the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, Freedom Park, National Theatre, Badagry Heritage Museum, Lekki Arts and Crafts Market, and Tafawa Balewa Square.
The initiative, designed to celebrate cultural heritage and boost tourism, was announced by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe. He explained that the festival is part of the broader Lagos Cultural Mission.
“We aim to use Lagos Cultural Weekend as a true reflection of Lagos culture, offering tourists and visitors an immersive experience of our rich heritage.
The three days will be a cultural baptism and a meaningful introduction to who we are. Prioritising cultural representation also drives economic growth,” Aregbe said.
Beyond exhibitions and performances, the programme will focus on empowering artisans, creatives, and stakeholders in the cultural sector.
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration values collaboration and inclusiveness,” Aregbe added, stressing that historians, curators, performers, and community leaders will be central to shaping the experience.
Visitors can look forward to live music, traditional dance showcases, fashion shows, culinary tastings, art exhibitions, DIY craft sessions, and indigenous storytelling.
Symposiums and cultural lectures will deepen understanding of Lagos’ history and diversity.
According to Aregbe, the Lagos Cultural Weekend 2025 also aims to strengthen the creative economy through partnerships, sponsorships, and community engagement, setting “a new benchmark for inclusive cultural programming in Lagos and across Africa.”
