Kogi International Carnival 2024

The Kogi International Carnival 2024 invites everyone to experience an unforgettable celebration of culture, investment, and community in the heart of Nigeria.

Preparations are underway as Kogi State gears up to host the 2024 Kogi International Carnival (KIC) from December 1 to 7, with the theme:

“Come, Experience, Explore, and Invest in the Confluence State: Celebrating Unity, Promoting Tourism, and Empowering Local Communities.”

The week-long event aims to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Kogi State’s diverse ethnic groups, showcasing its cultural potential and vast investment opportunities to local and international audiences.

Carnival Highlights

The KIC will take place simultaneously in four locations across the state—Lokoja, Kabba, Okene, and Ayingba—offering a mix of vibrant activities, including:

  • Cultural exhibitions featuring local traditions.
  • Music and dance performances by local and international artists.
  • Fashion shows spotlighting Nigerian and African designs.
  • Food festivals with local and international cuisines.
  • Workshops and masterclasses on art, music, and entrepreneurship.

A Platform for Tourism and Investment

The carnival aims to position Kogi as a premier tourist destination and a hub for investment opportunities. Prince Philip Orebiyi, leader of the KIC 2024 project, highlighted the event’s broader impact, stating:

“The carnival fosters cultural exchange, community bonding, and global recognition of Kogi State’s unique offerings. Visitors will experience the state’s beauty, talent, and investment potential.”

Renowned marketing expert Steve Babaeko echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of showcasing Kogi’s abundant natural resources and geographical advantages, including its role as a food basket for Nigeria.

“This international carnival will attract attention to Kogi State as a land of opportunities. Our farmers, for instance, can leverage the state’s strategic location to supply produce to the Federal Capital Territory and beyond,” Babaeko added.

A Celebration of Heritage

Prominent figures across sectors, including traditional rulers, have endorsed the carnival. The event aligns with the Christmas festive season, promising a memorable experience for tourists and visitors.

With a lineup of renowned musicians, international cultural ambassadors, and unique cultural displays, the KIC 2024 is set to celebrate Kogi State’s historical significance, unity, and untapped potential on a global stage.
