LAGOS – In celebration of the World Literacy Day 2023, the Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club has during the week put a smile on the faces of the future leaders by donating stationeries and school materials to the pupils of Agidingbi Primary School in Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the club donated exercise books, story books, school bags, and several other items to the pupils to enable them have a smooth sail in this new academic session.

Speaking at the event, Opeyemi Sanyaolu, the President, said the club planned to do more for the school, not just because it is a public school, but because the government alone cannot do everything as regards education.

“The government cannot do it alone and that is why they need the support of non-government organisations (NGOs) like ours to support them.

“The admin block is our next project for the school. We want to change the doors, renovate the building, and upgrade the crèche to make the children feel that ‘Yes, I am in a school,” he said.

Corroborating, Osunremi Temitayo, the Chairperson and Project Coordinator, 23/24 Lions Service Year, said they had been serving and would continue to give back to the community, especially in uplifting the standard of education.

Deji Alao, Deputy Director of Education and Head Teacher of Agidingbi Primary School, appreciated the club’s gestures of providing for the pupils.

‘’They discovered that so many of the pupils do not have books. So, they gave them books so they will be able to write in their classes.

“They pupils were given the materials for the smooth running of their education,” Alao said.
