The Goge Africa Festival 2024 will welcome over 25 countries and 20,000 tourists to celebrate African culture and heritage on 26–27 October at Onikan Stadium, Lagos.

 

The Goge Africa Festival 2024 is set to take place on 26–27 October at Onikan Stadium in Lagos, with over 25 countries and 20,000 tourists expected to attend.

Nneka Isaac-Moses, Managing Director and co-founder of Goge Africa, announced that this year’s event will mark the 25th anniversary of Goge Africa, a platform known for promoting African culture, tourism, and heritage.

The festival will feature participants from various African countries, including Togo, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, and Morocco, as well as international representatives from Italy, Germany, China, Jamaica, and Brazil.

This cultural extravaganza promises a vibrant display of Africa’s rich diversity, featuring performances, exhibitions, and collaborations across the continent.

Highlights of the event include an exhibition titled “Our Shared Heritage”, presented by the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilisation (CBAAC), and the unveiling of a new collection called “Itinochi” in support of widows at the Roots Runway.

Festivalgoers will witness captivating performances, including the appearance of “Ijele,” the largest masquerade in Africa, as well as presentations by the Arewa community and southern maidens.

Isaac-Moses stated that notable figures in the creative and tourism sectors will receive the prestigious Goge Africa Award for their contributions to African culture.

The event will also feature a food court with over 100 vendors and a thrilling soup competition, providing an immersive cultural experience.

With a mix of traditional and modern African music curated by special DJs, the festival aims to leave a lasting impact on tourism, youth empowerment, and Nigeria’s global image.

The Goge Africa Festival 2024 is poised to be one of the largest cultural gatherings in Africa, celebrating the continent’s heritage while shaping the future of its creative industries.
