Gbenga Daniel, Aregbesola and Mimiko honour Olubadan designate

Gbenga Daniel, Rauf Aregbesola and Olusegun Mimiko honour Olubadan designate Rashidi Ladoja in Ibadan, pledging support ahead of his coronation

Speaking during the visit, Daniel, who governed Ogun State from 2003 to 2011, said the team was in Ibadan to felicitate with Ladoja as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland.

He described him as “a great politician, a great businessman, a shipowner, and a great governor,” recalling their close working relationship as South-West governors.

He also highlighted Ladoja’s economic contributions, particularly during the recapitalisation of banks, noting that his input played a decisive role in Wema Bank’s transformation into a national bank.

Former Ondo State governor, Olusegun Mimiko, praised Ladoja’s public service record. “His track record made us proud. We are his fans, and that’s why we came here,” he remarked.

In his own tribute, former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola said their visit was apolitical, stressing that it was simply a gesture of respect:

“We know Kabiyesi is now an old man, so no politics. We are just here to pay homage and tell him our readiness to attend the coronation.”

Responding, the Olubadan designate, Oba Ladoja, expressed gratitude for the show of support.
