The revered social-age group drew admiration from spectators and cultural enthusiasts alike, turning heads with their colourful attire, synchronised choreography and spirited chants. Their arrival, marked by vibrant music and regal procession, added energy to the already vibrant atmosphere that defined this year’s festival.

This year’s Ojude Oba, one of Nigeria’s most cherished cultural gatherings, saw thousands gather at the forecourt of the Awujale’s palace to honour tradition, community and royalty. Among numerous age groups, Egbe Bobasete stood out, commanding attention with their poise and coordinated display.

Observers praised their presentation as one of the festival’s most outstanding.

“Egbe Bobasete brought a rare mix of class and authenticity,” said a local cultural commentator. “They are not just an age group, they are a cultural movement.”

Their participation reinforced the festival’s ethos of unity in diversity, as sons and daughters of Ijebuland at home and in the diaspora converged to pay homage to their monarch, Oba Sikiru Adetona, who remains a symbol of tradition and continuity.
