Do2dtun urges Nigerians to take collective responsibility in tackling insecurity, saying accountability should not rest on celebrities alone

Nigerian media personality Do2dtun has called on Nigerians to take greater responsibility in speaking out against insecurity, stressing that accountability should not be left solely to celebrities.

Do2dtun made the remarks on his X account on Tuesday, where he addressed ongoing debates around public reactions to insecurity and the expectations placed on influential figures.

He noted that Nigerians often criticise celebrities who speak up while also condemning those who choose to remain silent, creating what he described as a cycle of unfair judgment.

According to him, holding the government accountable is a collective duty that should involve all citizens, not just public personalities.

“The ones that speak up, you bash them into depression… It is not JUST their duty to hold the government accountable. It is our DUTY,” he wrote.

Do2dtun argued that many Nigerians are driven by fear and trauma, which he said contributes to misplaced anger and inconsistent public reactions to national issues.

He added that people often target individuals using their platforms to speak out, while ignoring broader civic responsibility.

“Nigerians, we are our biggest problem… we are so traumatized that we only look for people to attack over a disease that affects us all,” he stated.

He further likened public responsibility to personal action, suggesting that solutions require individual effort rather than dependence on others.

The media personality’s comments have since generated discussion online, with users divided over his call for collective responsibility and his criticism of public attitudes toward activism and accountability.
