Brymo recounts a 2019 encounter involving 2Baba and Annie Macaulay while discussing his past relationships with married women
Nigerian singer Ọlawale Ashimi, popularly known as Brymo, has made claims about a reported encounter involving fellow musician Innocent “2Baba” Idibia and actress Annie Macaulay, while speaking about his past relationships with married women during a recent interview.
The singer shared the account during an appearance on the NotJustOk podcast, where he reflected on personal experiences and warned younger artistes against becoming involved with married partners.
Brymo alleged that 2Baba once questioned Annie directly about whether she had been intimate with him during a meeting in 2019 at an office in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
“I remember that moment in 2019 at Naomi’s office in Lekki Phase 1 when 2face looked me straight in the eyes and asked, ‘Annie, you don fuck Brymo?’” Brymo said.
The musician described the alleged encounter as a moment he would not forget, while acknowledging that he had been involved with women who were married at the time.
“I met quite a number of older women who were truly married but they would tell me they were separated from their husbands,” he said.
Brymo also used the discussion to advise younger entertainers against pursuing relationships with married women, warning that such situations could bring serious personal consequences.
“Stop sleeping with people’s wives. They will cut your life short,” he said.
The comments have generated discussion online, particularly because they involve two well-known figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. However, neither Annie Macaulay nor 2Baba has publicly responded to Brymo’s allegations.
Brymo, who has built a reputation for his distinctive songwriting style and outspoken interviews, has previously made headlines for controversial remarks about relationships and collaborations.
In 2023, the singer drew attention after discussing female artistes he claimed he had approached for intimate relationships in connection with potential collaborations. Those comments also sparked debate among fans and industry observers.
The latest remarks have renewed conversations around celebrity relationships, privacy and the responsibility that comes with making public claims about other individuals.
As of publication, Brymo’s account remains his personal allegation, and no independent confirmation of the reported 2019 incident has been provided.
