Blue Lagos Initiative calls for development interventions after engaging Isan and Oregun riverine communities in Epe, Lagos State
The Blue Lagos Initiative, a community-focused development platform, has carried out a strategic engagement visit to Isan and Oregun riverine communities in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, calling for urgent interventions to address key infrastructural gaps.
The visit formed part of the organisation’s ongoing efforts to amplify the voices of underserved coastal populations and promote inclusive development across riverine communities in Lagos State.
During the engagement, residents raised concerns over limited access to essential services, including healthcare, education and transportation infrastructure.
Community members called for the establishment of a functional maternity health centre to improve maternal and child healthcare, a primary school in Oregun, and the construction of a safe and reliable jetty to enhance mobility and economic activity.
Speaking during the visit, Blue Lagos Team Lead Adesanya Saheed reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to community-driven advocacy and sustainable development.
He noted that meaningful progress begins with active listening and structured engagement with local residents to identify their most urgent needs.
The visit also provided a platform for direct interaction with community leaders, women and youth groups, strengthening dialogue around possible areas of collaboration and intervention.
Blue Lagos said it will continue its outreach across riverine and coastal communities in Lagos State as part of its broader mission to connect vulnerable populations with relevant stakeholders for development action.
The organisation emphasised that its work focuses on inclusive growth, youth and women empowerment, and data-driven community engagement.
