Ayetoro-Yewa Day 2024 draws support with a ₦500 million fund, medical outreach for 500 residents, and new infrastructure in Ogun State.
The Ayetoro-Yewa Day 2024 celebration in Ogun State marked a significant community milestone, as over 500 residents benefited from a medical outreach and a ₦500 million development fund was launched to support local initiatives.
Held at Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro in Yewa North, the event saw residents from across Ayetoro and surrounding areas gathering for free health services and a showcase of recent infrastructure projects that aim to uplift the community.
Speaking at the event, Dr Iziaq Kunle Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, emphasised the importance of residents’ well-being, urging participants to enrol in the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme (OGHIS) to safeguard against unexpected medical expenses.
Dr Salako highlighted recent healthcare investments by the Federal Government, including new Primary Healthcare Centres, a Hummer bus, and an ambulance at Olabisi Onabanjo University’s Agric Campus, and other local infrastructure projects facilitated by Senator Olamilekan Adeola.
Dr Salako praised further projects enhancing Ayetoro’s public health and infrastructure, such as the renovated General Hospital and primary healthcare facilities in Ibile and Isa Ope, a new ambulance point, and reconstruction of key roads including the Iboro Igan-Okoto-Ayetoro route.
These projects, spearheaded by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration, underline the government’s commitment to improving public welfare in Ogun State.
Chief Sesan Fagbayi, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, who represented Governor Abiodun, commended the residents of Ogun West for their support of state initiatives and called for continued unity and cooperation.
The governor’s administration, he noted, has greatly benefited from the region’s dedication and commitment.
Aremo of Ayetoro, Suraj Adekunbi, a former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, chaired the event, applauding the federal and state governments for fulfilling their promises to the region.
He encouraged residents to continue fostering unity, which he described as the foundation for further development.
Chairman of the event’s Central Planning Committee, Kunle Amosun, also commended the government’s efforts and urged for the completion of critical infrastructure projects, such as the Iboro Igan-Okoto Ayetoro and Ayetoro Olodo roads, which are vital for easing travel for residents and improving local economic activities.
The ceremony saw attendance from notable figures, including Ogun State House of Assembly Speaker Rt Hon Daisi Elemide, Hon Adeyanju Awoso representing Isokan State Constituency, Iyaloja General Alhaja Yemisi Abass, and Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba AbdulAzess Adelakun, among other distinguished royal fathers and community leaders from Yewaland.
