In a statement released on Wednesday, Chief Kabiru asserted that these allegations are currently being investigated by the Timi-in-Council and prominent figures within the Ede community.

This development follows the earlier announcement by the palace of the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, on Monday, regarding the indefinite suspension of Chief Kabiru from his position as Loogun. The palace cited alleged disregard for the authority of the Timi as the reason for the suspension.

However, Chief Kabiru, in his response issued in Osogbo, attributed the situation to “mischief makers” attempting to create division between him and Oba Lawal. He firmly denied sponsoring any attacks on the Timi and insisted that no conflict exists between them.

Chief Kabiru clarified that a previous statement from the Loogun Gbebi family was intended to correct the “misconception and accusation of a land grab against the Loogun on the family land at Loogun Ede.”

I want to state categorically that there was no time whatsoever that I… mandated anybody or a group to attack or insult the revered institution of Timi of Ede… there is no rancour or misunderstanding over land between myself and our revered royal father,” stated Chief Jimoh Kabiru.

He emphasized the cordial relationship between himself and the monarch, stating, “As a guardian of our culture and tradition, I clearly understand, respect, and cherish the robust father-and-son relationship that exists between myself and our father, the Timi of Ede.”

Chief Kabiru further noted that “whatever might have been the case over the land matter is now receiving the attention of the Timi-in-Council and eminent leaders in Ede, and we are already working together to achieve an amicable resolution.”

He cautioned those allegedly trying to incite discord between him and the Timi to cease their actions in the interest of peace, stability, and development within Edeland.

Reaffirming his commitment to the progress of Ede, Chief Kabiru pledged to collaborate with patriotic individuals to support Oba Lawal’s efforts in promoting and developing the community.

He concluded, “We must always pursue peace because it is only in an atmosphere devoid of rancour and bitterness that progress and development can be guaranteed. And that is what I believe and stand for.”
