Prince Adewale Laoye to chair 2025 Aji La’La Oso Festival in Ede, pledges to uphold the town’s cultural heritage

The cultural heartbeat of Ede beats louder as Prince Adewale Laoye, renowned cultural ambassador and CEO of Aafin Ilu (Palace of Drum), has been appointed Chairman of the 2025 Odun Aji La’La Oso Festival.

The announcement was conveyed via a letter dated April 7, 2025, from Mr. Yisa Oyekanmi, Secretary of the Ede Descendants Union (Home Branch). Prince Laoye accepted the appointment on April 12 with a deep sense of honour and responsibility.

“I fully understand the responsibilities that come with this position and am committed to upholding the cultural heritage and traditions of our ancient city,” Prince Laoye stated in his acceptance letter.

As Chairman, Prince Laoye will steer a committee of dedicated culture enthusiasts to coordinate this year’s festival, co-opting relevant stakeholders to ensure a dynamic and inclusive celebration.

The Aji La’La Oso Festival is a premier annual event that showcases Ede’s storied heritage in music, dance, and tradition.

The festival draws indigenes and global cultural lovers to Osun State, making it a significant cultural tourism highlight in Nigeria.

Prince Laoye, widely celebrated for his global contributions to African arts and heritage promotion, has vowed to work closely with Kabiyesi, the Ede community, and other partners to deliver a landmark celebration in 2025.

With planning in full swing, anticipation is high that this year’s festival will set a new benchmark in cultural excellence and reaffirm Ede’s place on the global culture map.
